OKeefe Stables Update for 2025

2024 was our first year in business and was a very nice start for us. We won our first race, raced on Travers day at Saratoga and purchased our first two mares. Our goal was always to start with 2 year old sales horses and at the same time breed our own. We are extremely excited to see what the rest of 2025 holds for us!

MJ's Yoshida-We purchased this filly as a 5 month old at Fasig Tipton 2022 OCT Saratoga sale and have always expected her to be a strong filly. For that reason we decided to name her after our mother Mary Jo. Unfortunately, mom passed this year and was not able to be physically here for the race but darn, I believe she was with us spiritually. Trained by Maxine Correa, MJ's first race was better than we had hoped for, she won by 12 lengths!!. I think we watched the replay about 20 times. Her next start will be at Saratoga racecourse during Belmont weekend 5-9 June. How exciting!!!

Cahira's Song- This 3 year old filly was purchased last April. Trained by Rudy Rodriguez, she has demonstrated a lot of promise in MSW races and we can't wait to see how she develops into a top racehorse. She has 2 races so far, was in both until the end and was less than 5 lengths from 1st in both. Her next start will be May 11th, we are trying her on the turf and expect her to really enjoy the change from dirt. We are going to have a lot of fun with her and MJ at Saratoga this summer!

High Speed Stef-This 7 year old mare just gave birth to a beautiful filly (see below) by stallion Fire at Will, a 2 year old Breeders Cup turf champion. She will be sent to Honest Mischief next month, 2024's NY number one leading stallion and we expect another beautiful foal next year. This is her day 1 picture and we have high expectations for her.

Camilla- This 5 year old mare also just gave birth to a beautiful filly (see below) by stallion Fire at Will, a 2 year old Breeders Cup turf champion. Camilla, will be sent to Mullion a full brother to 2021 Kentucky Derby winner Mandaloun. This picture is about 12 hours after birth.

Overall, we couldn't be happier with the 3 yr olds, mares and foals at OKeefe Stables. We will probably add another horse either a 2 yr old in training or possibly claim one at Saratoga this summer. In 2026/2027 we should have around 8-10 horses at our farm and I can't imagine a better life.
